In the evening, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn officially signed in the New Year and Bangkok sprung into life with everyone participating in dancing, eating and of course having a lot of fun.
Good vibes for the future abounded throughout the city. The city's main entrance to Chinatown was marked by a brightly lit gate where visitors could ask for luck during 2009.

Alternatively, many of the Thai Buddhists visited the Yaowarat Chinatown Heritage Centre at Wat Trai Wittayaram, located just within the Chinatown area. Here, they asked Buddha for good luck during the coming year.
