Sarika waterfall (nam tok means waterfall in Thai) is very famous and popular amongst the Thais and is a World Heritage site. The entrance area has several restaurants and stalls selling souvenirs and clothes – these are mainly aimed at the Thais, so as a foreign visitor you will enjoy cheaper prices than those found in the more Western orientated tourist spots.

If you are feeling energetic, you can climb up and explore the waterfall’s nine tiers. During the rainy season the cool mountain water tumbles over the rocks into small pools where you can take a refreshing dip or hand feed the tiny fish that swim in the water. At the top of the falls the water crashes 20 meters into the deepest drop pool. This is a perfect place to enjoy a truly invigorating swim under the cascading water.
Not far from Nam Tok Sarika is another popular place, particularly with Thai Buddhists, Sarika Cave. The cave was where the famous and revered monk ‘Luang Pu Man’ resided and meditated during his religious missions from 1917 to 1920. Today, you can look around the cave and there is a small temple at the top. Sarika Cave remains an important spiritual place and many monks and nuns still reside here looking to pursue inner-path meditation.
Getting there
From the town center of Nakhon Nayok take the north-eastern route on highway 3049 and follow the signs towards Khao Yai National Park. Approximately 12km from town the road forks, take the left fork in the road onto highway 3050, follow the signs (you may also spot the waterfall as the road twists and turns) and after approximately 3km you will enter the Nam Tok Sarika parking area.
