Phuket:
Click here go to this location in Google Map
Phuket is Thailand's biggest island and is located on the southern Pensula on the Andaman Sea and is one of Thailand's most popular tourist destinations. Most people fly here from Bangkok's international Airport Suwannaphum and you are greeted on the main road into the island by a monument, commemorating two women, who historically took arms to defend their king.

Big Buddha of Phuket
Overlooking the southern portion of the Island, Thailanders are building a "Big Buddha". At approximately 50 Meters in height, it truly is a "Big Buddha of Phuket" as it is called. There are many signs directing you to this scenic destination when you are in Phuket city area. The trip up the island mountain is worth it mainly because of the magnificent views. The Buddha is currently under construction and I am looking forward to the day that the construction is complete with beautiful marble skin, it should be truly magnificent.

Phuket Beaches
The draw of Phuket lies mostly in the white sand sunny beached surrounding the island. I have taken a few pictures of these beaches below…

Surin Beach

Suring beach is a nice quiet beach surrounded mostly by expensive condos.

Tsunami Memorial in Kamala Beach
This memorial was constructed to remember those who lost their lives during the December 26, 2004 Tsunami, a very sobering and meaningful stop to make.

Patong Beach
Patong is where the majority of the night life take place on the Island, with many bars, night clubs and restaurants located along the coast. The beaches here are nice, white but a bit crowded.

Paradise Beach
I sumbled onto paradise beach quite by accident. It is located just south of Patong Beach and is a private beach, belonging to a resort. The beach is small, quiet and quite beautiful.

City of Phuket and Phuket Harbor
The city of Phuket is located on the south east portion of the island and has several "must sees". This is where the Malls are on the island, so most people go there for old fashioned malling at some point in their stay. Also, on the western edge of the city is the "Fitness Park", located on top of the highest point in the city. This park offers awesome views of Phuket City and Harbor, to take advantage of the views here , they have a coffee shop to sit and enjoy the view.

I had the opportunity to be at Sunset Point on the day that the moon was in apogee, or when the closest to the earth.
