Home to nearly 1,600 different species, Dusit Zoo in Bangkok provides a wonderful opportunity for you to get up close to some of the world’s most amazing animals including: Indian elephants, giraffes, rhinos, bears, zebras etc. Probably the only place left in Thailand where you can still see a tiger, the Zoo is noted for having one of the best collections of gibbons in the world, there is a large aviary, and for reptile lovers there is also a particularly good snake room (although entry to the snake room costs a little extra). Elephant rides and animal feeding shows are held at regular intervals and are very popular with the visitors.

Originally constructed in 1938, the Zoo is set in 50 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens that were once the private botanical gardens of King Rama V, and you can still find a huge variety of plants and flowers in the grounds from that era. At the heart of the Zoo lies a 12 acre lake, which is home to many fish, turtles and even alligators. You can hire paddleboats and take a trip out onto the lake, just be careful not to fall in!
